I don't know how many folks will read this. I don't post a lot and there seems to be some difficulty getting people to notice stuff you say if you aren't a regular (sorry, but it's true) - but all that aside, the reason I am not here in cyberspace much is because, after 3 years of serious cyber-activism, I have chosen the streets over my computer. I know many of you are active "in person" as well, so please do not take this as a criticism - my own life contains seven kids, a full time job and a 62 mile commute, so choices have to be made. And so my website has gone to seed and I won't even describe my laundry room which is scary enough to repel Osama bin Laden.
On Monday, I will participate in a banner drop with CodePink - I will do this before work and after work I will attend a volunteer session for poll watchers courtesy of MoveOn. On Tuesday, I will distribute progressive flyers at a Union of Concerned Scientists event at USF in St. Pete, FL. On Friday, I will take more flyers to a punk rock concert, and on Saturday, I am doing a double-header at a local peace festival in the morning and a peace vigil in the evening. This week I will be fighting harder than I have ever fought in my life - and hopefully everyone else will take a last deep breath and get off the computer and into the streets also. WE CAN WIN THIS!
If I don't fucking sleep until after this is over, I won't give up. I have fought this thing - this neo-con nightmare - since 2000. This is the year it is going to go away. We will overcome the vote fraud. We will overcome the legal wrangling. We will overcome the blathering host of neo-con scum that clog the A.M. talk radio airways and we will overcome the propaganda-meisters on cable "news". We will do this together and we will do this because it is necessary.
And when this is over, we will take a deep breath and start the long, hard battle to take back the rest of our country. And we will not stop until the poor, the homeless, the helpless, the uninsured, the unemployed and all those who struggle to survive have a reason to hope again.
Rant off - carry on :-)
