7. I am in my early 30's.
I am educated, as are my group of friends. Many of them have decent jobs (myself excluded). Many of my friends are buying mobile homes. Why? Because they cost less, they can be upgraded (garden tubs, built-ins, etc) and they are movable. Most nowadays can be placed on a permanent foundation (even a basement). They are proud to be homeowners and to know that their mortgage will be paid off much quicker than regular homeowners.
When people hear about their choice of home, the first thing out of their mouths is "trailer trash". They too get upset about that phrase. Most of my friends have theirs situated on acres of land. Only one has his in a trailer court-and the court looks nicer than most apartment complexes.
It is a stereotype that gets old fast. People assume if you live in a trailer than you must be trash. Most of the people who make these comments have never been in a trailer themselves or they would know that the comments are untrue.
