12. Mobile homes seem to be a class symbol
We never lived in a mobile home growing up. When I was little, my mother said that it was because she was afraid of tornados and that mobile homes are easily damaged or destroyed by them. When I was older, she revealed that the reason was her own class predjudices. We were "middle class" people and such people don't live in mobile homes.
Instead we lived in a nice old 3 bedroom house whose backyard touched the outer walls of a factory, which it was owned by.
