2. Oh god, rant on!
I don't like her. I am very active in the "alternative comedy" community and have seen her countless times, and no, I still don't like her. She's nice enough, but I don't think her schtick is funny. And that's what it is- schtick. I love Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce, Carlin, Pryor, but she is nowhere near that level.

And here's why: precisely what the comment above me said. "You have to love women." She's only "popular" because she tries so damn hard to be edgy and countless 14 year old think "Oh My God, she cursed! Women aren't suppossed to be like that!", thus making her popular for the very same thing she's suppossedly counteracting (except she only got to where she is by who she has slept with (there, I said it.)

Yes, I am bitter, because as a female comic she is making it THISMUCH harder to get accepted unless you're blowing a guy who magically ends up with a talk show.

Jokes that are just "Look, I'm so raucous, I said the word Jesus next to the word shit!" are not smart, and not interesting, and not edgy. She doesn't take any real chances, she merely pays lip service to an idea while playing into the system.

There, I said it. I have no beef with anyone that likes her, taste is taste, no reason to fight me. But I've said my peace.
