78. NOOOOOO!
American bands worshiped the early Rocknroll sound from America. They wanted to get back to that and away from the bloated hippie stuff. New York Dolls covered the following artists: Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Shangi Las, sonny boy williamson, willie dixon, eddie cochran, the coasters, the cadets etc etc- almost all american covers and the dolls were THE protopunk band- like i said punk started the day the original NYDs folded shop in 75. (2 of em went on as simply the Dolls for a bit)
