6. Yes, that is something that has always bothered me. The goat
thing happened in '45, but our last WS championship was '08. The real curse (though I dont believe in 'em just bad baseball) is that of Merkel's boner from 1908. The Giants had the bases loaded and their hitter struck the winning hit. Game over Giants win. But no, somehow my baby bears argued and argued about a technicality regarding whether Merkel had touched second. The game was ruled a tie- THE NEXT DAY- by an umpire that would later work for the Cubs! Giants lost the make-up game and Cubs win pennant to the obvious disdain of the baseball gods.

So, yes the goat thing could be cured with a WS appearance. But was the goat responsible for losing 7 World Series between '09 and '45? That's right, we've lost 7 World Series since we last won one- think Buffalo Bills and add 3 more. The Cubs won't be done with curses until they win it all. If we make the WS and lose, you can bet that Merkel's boner will be the new curse du jour. But it would be nice to just get that damned goat off our backs!
