And I have seen it untold dozens of times.

When the Dude is coming down the hallway to meet Maude for the first time (while she is swinging back and forth working on her painting), there is a Warholian-type painting of a giant pair of scissors. Later, in his dream sequence with Maude, one of the nihilists is coming after him with that same giant pair. Perfect use of the subconscious.

Or, the last time Donny rolls, he doesn't get a strike. The last pin just wobbles ominously, and he looks crushed. Foreshadowing at its most subtle.

Every time, something new.
