25. Your "case in point" consists of a work of fiction?
I would have thought it should be superfluous to point out that A Christmas Story is a work of fiction, and that the behavior of the characters is driven by the scriptwriter's need to drive the plot rather than based on how they would behave if they were real people. And it's set in the 1940s, and we've come some distance in Health & Safety since then.
