12. I keep wondering the opposite -- why would they stop when they have nothing
left to lose. What would they look forward to except an early death by assasination?
The welfare of others is an ethical goal of a pretty high order. It's difficult for most people to think in those terms if their most basic needs are not only not met and when they have little hope of being met.
