wouldn't we have picked a country where we have control of things?

Wouldn't Saudii Arabia or Israel have made more sense so that if something went wrong (the guys got captured?) we'd have control over the story.

Syria doesn't make any sense. If the guys got captured they'd be held by our enemy (Syrian government) who could use the info to make big trouble for us.

Most conspiracy theories at least make a little bit of sense. This one doesn't.
