not that I ever thought badly of him. But I thought it was a protective gesture, not wanting Boxer to be marginalized as the only nay vote. Regardless of his motivation, I was raised that actions speak louder than words, and his action was impeccable. I also think that by Kerry joining in the nays, that next time somebody else might decide to go in on it. And gradually they might get bigger groups of dems voting nay - iow, I guess I am still hoping they can grow some cajones.
Regarding the election,I really wish that Kerry had held out on that concession speech longer. I appreciate Gore's having done so, but there are no doubt reasons that we aren't privy to, including pressure, and threats from repubs. I understand that these tactics were effective in getting most of the senators to back down from joining Boxer in the Ohio electoral stand down. Maybe we are being too idealistic, and should look at each small gesture of resistance as our strength.
