21. Abject poverty? You might want to rethink that.

Please visit this thread for an education but I'll spell it out in crayon first since you've got a singularly bizarre vision of the world.

By Kenyan standards, Obama's grandmother lives in an upscale dwelling. Her home has an engineered solar panel for the lights, a great field for her livestock and a well on her property. Her compound has three middle class houses built from red bricks. It's even wired for the internet. She managed to send her son, Obama's father, to the University of Hawaii to pursue a doctoral degree, an unpleasant fact that seems to have slipped your mind. Dr. Obama was a senior economist in the Kenyan Ministry of Finance. They're by no means considered "poor" and are well-traveled, unlike many close-minded Americans I know, so you'll have to find another excuse to sneer at them.

Not everyone in this world considers themselves "rich" because they're in debt to Enron for powering their homes, to Bechtel for running bacteria-laden water into hermetically-sealed stuffy homes that weaken the immune systems of their children, and telecoms because they need 256 channels of shit to keep their vacuous minds entertained.

The woman is about 83 years old and still leading an active, fruitful life, tending her field and flocks instead of being tossed into a nursing home to wither away playing solitaire all day.

One of the reasons the great majority of Americans living overseas voted for Obama is because he respects other cultures enough not to impose your civilized standards of living well on other people as evidenced by his relationship with his grandmother and village.

FYI, she visited the US and wasn't that overwhelmed with all the plastic bullshit you classify as "richness".

As an alleged feminist, I'm stunned you're not heralding her strength of character and independence rather than inventing petty bullshit that says more about your character. Thankfully she doesn't live in a big fancy white-woman-acceptable house because the right-wing and its minions would be having a field day saying Rezko paid for it eh?

After reading the thread in my first sentence, please scrape together a few pennies to spend 6 months outside of this country and educate yourself. It's mortifying to see someone write the kind of tripe you just wrote and disconcerting to know they vote.

What's next week's meme Mags? Free Barack's White Grandmother? Doesn't matter, we'll be ready for that one too.

Our heritage has too long been disrespected by the children of those who kidnapped us from our homes centuries ago but have no fears, some of us will patiently keep doing what we can to help you get the record straight.
