All you gloomy naysayers from next week--raise your hands. You were predicting the beginning of the end as recently as last week. Things weren't going smoothly--I don't need to remind you how jittery we all were, do I? Even I was pretty downhearted.

Well, what a difference a week makes...

The convention is going as smooth as smooth can be, with several incredible speeches from Michelle Obama, John Kerry, Brian Schweitzer--and we haven't even gotten to Al Gore and Barack yet.

And it must be said the Clintons BOTH did magnificently, and are acting like the true unifiers we always knew they were.

Obama's opened up a 6-point Gallup lead over McCain today.

He's up in several swing states, and even ahead (by one point, but he's ahead) in FLORIDA of all places.

Oh, and John McCain gave an interview to TIME magazine that makes him seem like a complete asshole--and mentally unstable to boot.

I'm feeling pretty good about our chances this week. You?
