40. As a Veteran, I empathize w/you. I am here in NE, and while
there have been many that have said bush is "doing the right thing", most of those that say such things have never served this nation a day in their lives. I work w/a guy who thinks this war is "absolutely necessary, otherwise, they'd, (terrorists), would invade this country in a heartbeat". Ummm...right...:eyes:

I have offered to take this individual to the recruiter, but he does not want to go, after all, "I have a good life here" is his mantra.

I was once called a "traitor" at a Town Hall meeting w/my former representative in the House, Bereuter-R, (now it's Fortenberry-R). The next time he came around, I was prepared. The same civilian that had called me a "traitor" was in the audience, as I knew he would be, he'd been to every one I had been to previously. This time, I hung my old uniform over the back of the chair next to me, w/DD-214 on the seat. Said RW-nut was livid, but others in the audience were showing respect.
One of them, before the meeting got under way, turned to my semi-nemesis, and asked, "Hey Frank, you gonna open your mouth again?", to which there was quite a bit of laughter. After the meeting, I found out that Frank was to be drafted in '68, but he got out of it by saying he had to take care of the Family Farm, because his mother and father were "not there". He got his deferment, and proceeded to do most of his work in the local taverns. His mom and dad were in Europe on an extended vacation, (the farm/cattle ranch had made quite a bit of cash and they decided to use some of it). Frank left the meeting immediately following Bereuter's remarks, he did not want to be there for the question/answer part that day...:)

For the record, I can understand people not willing to serve, I don't like cowards or war profiteers, but I can comprehend the motives. What I cannot accept, and never will, is the high talking by people who refuse to serve. The cowardice is one thing, but when others die and get wounded while candy assed bastards spend one molecule of air talking and not acting, I get incredibly angry. They can stay out if they wish, that is their right, but damn sure don't ask others to put their lives, limbs or families on the line and then show no responsibility to stand up for what you say you believe in.

One of the reasons I despise Limbaugh, Coulter, Savage, O'Reilly, Hannity, et al, is the incredible hypocrisy they've shown over their "careers" in instances pertaining to the military. Most of the people I served with covered up small medical/physical items just to get in and do their part...seems like the RW is rife w/those that have extrapolated similar ailments and begged to get out of serving, and once they didn't have to serve, they became uber-patriots w/a supposed "vast knowledge" of the military. I consider them dog crap on the soles of those willing to serve, to be scraped off in the gutter.
