He's attempted to position himself as the most liberal candidate in the Democratic field. Most red states are far from liberal. I see him losing his home state in a general election, as well as every other state in the South. Which means he loses his home region by a wide margin. Kind of defeats the purpose of nominating a Southerner, doesn't it? He could win Ohio, or other non-southern red states, but it'll be a tough slog for him.
