I know, honey. And the Obama campaign was hoping it would somehow just never come up.

But when, as State Senator, you're writing letters to City and State Officials to help your long-time buddy Tony and his fledgling construction crew get a $43 million tax-payer funded contract to build low-income housing, people are going to talk about it. And they'll talk even more when these same buildings, which sit in your District, fall into disrepair -- five years later -- and go without heat during one of Chicago's coldest winters on record with you lifting not a finger to help.

When you take over a hundred thousand dollars in campaign contributions from him and his company and then claim the number was far lower, people are going to talk about it.

And, as Tony's being investigated by Patrick Fitzgerald for possible extortion and embezzlement, you approach him to buy two plots of land (one on which a $1.6 million house stands for which you pay $300,000 under the asking price) and then later buy the neighboring parcel from Tony and his wife (who purchased it for $625,000) for $104,000 -- later admitting it was a "mistake" and a "boneheaded decision" --, people are eventually going to talk and write about it.

But I agree. I'm sure you were hoping to avoid writing about the Barack Obama - Tony Rezko connection. I know Barack Obama was fervently hoping the same thing.
