I didn't grow up in a fancy suburb like Buckhead. I grew up poor white trash in the south in the 50s (that was one step above blacks in the racist south). I listened to that clip and the only racist thing I heard was the smug white commentator on the Scarborough show.

Blacks and poor white trash were constantly told, subtly and not so subtly, that they weren't good enough. What Michelle was saying is that blacks would wake up and realize Obama could win, that his campaign WASN'T hopeless. I understand exactly what she was saying because I have been there. You obviously haven't.
