Maybe you see that as a subtle difference but it isn't. He's also an international icon like few other people.

Again, I'm not saying that celebs can't be helpful. They can. But not by running tv ads. People already know that the Hollywood A-list backs Kerry, and that they would have backed any major dem candidate.

Also, Endorsements of any kind tend to work in getting people elected when they pull votes away from peoples dispositions. So for republicans, hollywood-izing a candidate works better and in relationship to that, a hollywood icon like Arnold works. Just like minority canidates and famous minority support helps republicans. In reverse democrats who can be seen as Christian or "tough" or having support from non-hollywood type celebs like Athletes or independant politicians or commentators work in getting them elected.
