14. I'm in the same camp, I missed most of the gang too
My life was so scattered that day, but as they say "When all you got is lemons, make lemonade" and it turned out pretty damn interesting.

Before I rendezvoused with you guys down the road I grabbed a great burger and pint at the Triple Rock and carrried on a fantastic conversation with a neat old man doing the same. Our conversation carried us all over the world talking current events and such - China, Venezuela, Cuba, Iraq, Iran...on and on...Cripes, I actually had to ask him at one point if he was a DUer because he was so well informed. Economics, trade, politics, history - he knew it all, and I'm getting a world class education all for the fare of a burger and a pint. Conversation finally turned to Israel and he mentioned his recent trip there to visit his son, the journalist. I asked who, anything I might have read written by him... Turns out his son is a staff writer for the WSJ heading up the Israel bureau, Karby Leggett. Hey, chance encounters that fun can only happen in Berkeley.

Even if I missed the main event at the Triple Rock, I had a great time at the second act. And as Al Sharpton says, "It's all good!" ;)

Thanks, Taverner, for making it all happen, I'll make an effort to meet you and the rest of the gang on the rebound.
