Like maybe "Everything that we've been trying to push them to do -but that they've failed to do- has now come back to bite them."
Or, what we've been trying to push them to do, they do a half-assed job on and water it down with right wing crap hoping to get the Repubs to vote for it -- but they never voted for it anyway. So we ended up with a watered down piece of crap that we still needed 60 votes to push through.
