My mom gave me a pretty stainless steel model a couple of years ago -- I returned it to the manufacturer TWICE because it would blow out, or overheat/burn the food. I'm so happy I kept my ugly old one.

I actually never really COOK in it anyhow (IMO, stuff turns out too watery if you don't really SIMMER it), but serving chili, soup or cider at a party, you can't beat it.
