No, this couple won't suffer because they no longer can afford to go out for breakfast every day. Who will suffer is the waitress who won't be getting their tips and the restaurant that won't be getting their business. Restaurants stay in business and buy stuff and employ people because of the people who enjoy the luxury of eating at them. If people like the Johnsons can afford to eat out frequently, what's wrong with that? And when they can't afford it, who really suffers? I don't feel sorry for the Johnsons. I do feel sorry for the restaurant workers and owners who are losing income because people like them are cutting back.

It's Econ 101. Think about it.
