15. I Love The Term "Gerbil Wheel"
The 24/7 "news" cycle has turned into a Roman Circus. Every time I turn on these asshats, Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry" plays in my head.

It's a major reason I got out of wanting to be a "radio star"...I saw how creative, talented people were scorned while the ass-kissers and bastards got moved ahead. It was 20 years ago this month I was working at a 50,000 watt "blowtorch" and was told by management that I was "too liberal" and if I wanted to be a "big star" I had to get with the "program". It made me sick. The more you sucked up to the corporates, the further you advanced...those who didn't...the next station they worked at said "Shell" on it. I have ZERO regrets...things worked out better for me in the long-run.

I can still tell the difference betwee a journalist like an Amy Goodman or Josh Marshall...and both admire and respect them for being able to fight the good fight.

:hi:
