From March AFB no less.. I know, because I've talked to them on many occasions.

They have plenty of airbases in Miramar, right next to the Carriers even.

My point is that we have a great many installations already built instead of squandering even more money down a bottomless rathole of Black money. The military has many Abandoned bases growing weeds, plus they have these other, well hidden facilities, that unfortunately, when you fly over them at night, look like a suburb of Los Angeles.

The funny thinng about the blackout of San Clemente, is that the airfield shows up better on www.bing.com, while google was the first to hide this facility.

It's not like we don't know it's there, especially when Area 51 is crystal clear.

The secrecy is not for security, it's for hiding the incredible waste the Military gets away with. There is no catalog of facilities, and everything must be brand spanking new all the time, instead of recycling old facilities.

Alameda Naval Air Station is s disgrace to the Navy, especially in the rotting, polluted, decaying and neglected state the base is now in. I don't know about you, but when I look at the 1600 acres of unused, fully developed land that lies rotten, I become infuriated that Americans are so stupid as to let the Military get away with this thievery.

However, it sounds like you take a shallow view of the Military spending, and regard it as benign, without looking at the big picture.

Maybe they just don't want to see the lumbering C-17's loitering around Cataline and reminding them how much money they are burning up when they could be in a trainer somewhere. Not enough people vacationing in paradise to worry about so why not just circle around at sea level in the middle of the pacific, where the fuel is more expensive, the Hospitals are ill equipped, and the Senators roll over to the Military like dog's waiting for their belly to be scratched.
