While the Repubs were politickin', the President was presidencing...

For almost 2 years, the Repubs have done nothing but politick. They completely ignored the mess in our economy, the wars, unemployment, job creation, everything. They were too busy doing what they do best - tear down the President and their political opposition. The worst of all, most of the problems were of their creation.

As the stock market was tumbling into the ocean, the President was doing everything he could do to save Wall Street and the capitalist system. In hindsight, perhaps he should have let them go under?

But he did not want to see average people suffer. He did not want them to lose their life savings in their 401K's. So he made a deal with the Big Banks, who promised to save all the bad mortgages. They changed their minds once they got the money and the Repubs stood on the sideline and jeered the President. Now their Party is getting most of the bribes from Wall Street.

When the President decided to spend money on a stimulus to save millions of jobs, the Republicans criticized. They mocked him for saying unemployment would not go over 8%. As the country sank deeper and deeper into the Great Recession, the Republicans continued to vote NO on everything. Their aim was not to save the economy or the country. Their aim was to destroy the President.

Looking back, perhaps the President should not have even tried to do anything about healthcare reform, even though both Parties recognized that healthcare costs were acting as an anchor on the families of average Americans. The President attacked the problem, even though most folks have seen little change in their coverage, except higher prices. But he tried. Without any help from the Republicans. They were too busy politickin'...

We can criticize the President but we should not overlook the disdain of the Republicans for the people of this country as we struggled to keep from drowning in this Great Recession. They worked hard to tear down this country and they have worked just as hard to keep it down...Let us give credit where credit is due but let us lay the blame at the feet of those that would play politics in such dire times...
