Just like how most Nader voters regretted their actions and did not repeat their tantrum in 2004, people who play with fire in 2012 will similarly get burned (in a way they will never forget), just like a child who touches a hot stove is unlikely to repeat such an action in the future. Humans have evolved to not be consistently irrational for long periods of time, and this is certainly true in the political context.
