Oh I'm angry all right. I've been keeping up on the OWS protests. Watching courageous people face off against the police. Outraged to see the brutality. But that's not what I'm angry about. The police play their part and actually help OWS's cause. Thanks dumb-asses.

What I'm angry about is my Facebook response. It just amazes me how I can post a picture of a stupid cat wearing a halloween costume and all my family and friends will 'like' it. However in the last week, I have posted several links to OWS: Sgt. Shamar standing up to all those policemen; the video of the Oakland Occupiers getting flash-bombed while trying to help Scott Olson. To me, these protesters are breathtakingly courageous. What response did I get from my Facebook friends? Crickets No. response. WHATSOEVER!!! WTF? What's the matter with these people? Are they that complacent? Snug in their safe little worlds, playing Farmville, thinking nothing can happen to them? Do they realize how close this country is to the brink of disaster? How quickly you can lose it all?

I know first hand how quickly the tables can turn. My husband lost his job as an Auto Tech at the dealership. Lay off the senior guy that makes the most money, nice. So many dealerships and independent Auto Shops have closed in this area due to the crash that now there are not enough jobs to go around for Auto Techs. Especially if you're over 50. He hasn't been able to find work for over a year, even though he's highly skilled with a good work ethic. That's a pisser. We had to let BofA foreclose on our house. I'm still working, so we tried the TARP thing, what a joke. They just wanted to string us along with longer payments and keep us stuck in a house we could never get out of. Mortgage slavery. What we needed was a principle reduction of about $100k, which they refused to do. So they foreclosed on us and turned around and sold it for $105,000 less than we paid for it. Why wouldn't they reduce our principle and let us retain the home? Moral Hazard. Well that makes sense doesn't it? And no, we didn't get an ARM and we didn't use our home as an ATM to buy an SUV. We got a conventional 30 year fixed rate loan. Our newest vehicle is a 14 year old truck. We put our own sweat equity into our home. We lost it. We're angry about that but we put it behind us and now we rent. And wait for my retirement in a year so we can move out of state and maybe hubby can open his own shop. At least we hope. What if something happens before then? All retirements are based on the market. What if the market completely crashes and the retirement fund goes bankrupt? I'm worried and I'm angry that I would even need to worry about this. I feel like even though we played by the rules and worked hard all our lives, our future is very uncertain. I know nothing in life is certain but for most Americans our future is much bleaker than it should be, thanks to the small percentage of sociopaths we like to call the 1%. I'm definitely angry about that and I refuse to get over it.

The system has been rigged by and for the 1%. They rewrote the rules to benefit themselves. That needs to change. That's what OWS is about, my Facebook friends. OWS is about regaining our power and I am all for it. In fact, I've been expecting it. I am angry and disappointed that you don't care. Or maybe you do care but you're afraid to show it. I urge you to remember that you are part of the 99%. Remember what it means to be an American. And most importantly, remember what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it." Think about that my 'friends'. Unless you're too scared to...
