Bush Calls on Americans to Volunteer, Give
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 10:41 AM by Tab
CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush issued a holiday-season call on Americans to volunteer and give to charity — "to share our blessings with the least among us." He singled out for special praise those who have given time and energy to U.S. troops stationed around the world.

"The greatest challenges of our time have come to the men and women who protect our nation," Bush said in his weekly radio address Saturday.

"Like generations before them, today's armed forces have liberated captive peoples and shown compassion for the suffering and delivered hope to the oppressed," Bush said. "In the past year, they have fought the terrorists abroad so that we do not have to face those enemies here at home."

Bush said there was much to appreciate this Thanksgiving weekend. "We're grateful for our beautiful country, and for the prosperity we enjoy. We're grateful for the chance to live, work and worship in freedom," Bush said.

Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 11:25 AM by Gregorian
Stop murdering, fool! Stop being a hypocrite, moron. No amount of volunteering would fix the destruction you've wreaked upon Iraq, and America. Volunteer?! How can we volunteer that kind of domestic debt away? You volunteer, you thief! You steal whatever you want. Well, there a truth out there that must be bothering you- you can't steal respect. And the world does not respect you, George.
You and your party have turned democracy into hypocracy. Now go away!

i'll be grateful when you're gone, you awol traitor.

And is there a full size version that can be printed?

But please reconsider changing the subject line. He may be a clown, but the rest of it is somewhat disturbing.

27. I got that off of Sorryeverybody.com
After going through 400 pages, for theraputic reasons, I ran into it. Cool, huh?
It was early when I posted. I've edited my post to more accurately reflect my feelings. How dare he ask us to do anything, while he's busy murdering Iraqis.
I sure can't wait until he's gone. In fact, I contacted my immigration lawyer again. I want to have a green card so that I can cross the Canadian border when need be. Actually, listening to Noam gives me a lot of perspective. Things have been worse. Just not in my lifetime.

Thanks for the info.

Good luck if it has to come to leaving for Canada. I won't - partly because I can't. But if there's good enough reason to request asylum, which I can see happening at some point, I'll have to flee too...

Time will tell. It's just as possible that there'll be a full thermonuclear war thanks to *'s worldwide divisiveness and nowhere is safe.

3. speak for yourself
Hey W:
Since you've robbed the American people of just about everything-our savings, since we can't live on the minimum wage to replace the job that we used to have, that you've sent overseas, the 401K that you and "Kenny Boy" stole from us, and the rights guaranteed us by the constitution, how about you do the giving for the change? You've done enough "taking" from us. And personally, I'm not taking any more of your crap. You can eat it.

9. All Bushites should give till it bleeds!
Think of it this way. Non-Bushies aren't really true Americans, so Bush is really only talking to his base, right?

Not only should they give till it bleeds, they should also get, as a reward, an all expense paid tour of Iraq.

22. That is movement toward Victory over the NEW DEAL
What with capitalism on the verge of hegemony, and socialism on the wane, that old republican named Lincoln who had the idea that the government is "FOR the people" can be suppressed forever.

Funny that CREATIONISTS believe in economic Darwinism.

8. Take your false freedom and shove it where the sun don't shine, repukes
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 10:55 AM by HypnoToad
The Iraqis, judging by a summary of the news reports, appear to be less than free.

I only see middle and lower class people helping those with 'the least among us'. They've given enough and are about to endure more than your rich buddies who helpeth only themselves while blaming the rest of us.

The actions of corporate america are increasing suffering for those at home. Suffering that includes people taking their own lives.

Grateful? Or taking it all for granted?

Mr. Bush, the only thing you seem TO do is worship the almighty dollar that's in your coffer. And I pity you and your ilk.

20. President Kennedy donated his salary, will bush?
I read that President Kennedy donated his salary, as both a congressman and President, to charity. Will bush follow his example? Especially in this "time of war and sacrifice"? Anyone know what bush's sacrifices have been? Anyone? Sure hasn't been his kids, has it? Or his salary. He such a hypocrite.

12. There is no limit to this man's cluelessness.
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 11:10 AM by The Backlash Cometh
How many different ways can I describe the problem here:

(1) Leaders set the example and yours, Bush, is not a very charitable example. It's your way or the highway, remember?;

(2) In order to donate, people have to have money and with your economic plan, no one has surplus money except for the rich;

(3) Your trickle down economics isn't working. The rich which have all the money, are not creating new jobs, at least not in the U.S. and the rich are notorious for being the least charitable;

(4) The more sanctimonious your right-wing churches get, the more alienated they become to the rest of the Americans, thus, no one is going to open their pockets to churches they don't trust;

(5) Laura pretty much summed it up and I'm sure it was by accident. When asked who would accept low-paying teacher jobs, she said people who naturally do that kind of stuff for the reward. Bush, your kind of people have destroyed the soul & spirit of the people who use to give just for the sheer joy of giving. While your kind turned to greed, you destroyed programs that helped the poor & you broke the spirit of the people who tried to help the poor. For you, charity begins in the church and there is shall remain. Go to your churches and ask them to dig deep for your charitable causes. You'll find that the best people that really sacrificed for others, weren't the ones that needed reminders on Sunday morning.

13. Degrees of poverty ...
What he means is that the less poor should share with the more poor.

If you have a cardboard box, you should volunteer to share it with those who have no such shelter luxery.

If you have rice and beans, be sure to cook up a large, steaming pot full and invite homeless folks outside your abandoned building, (you lucky soul!)

Be courteous, and wait your turn when dumpster diving! Don't scream obscenities and jealously clutch the good stuff while gritting your teeth, frothing, and saying "MINE! It's MINE!" There is plenty of garbage and practically freash food to go around. Share!

Don't chug the wine. Take a normal gulp and quickly pass it on.

Give other's a chance to warm-up around the fire barrel! That's the warmth of charity there.

If you know anything about health, be sure to practice it. Healthcare is not easy to come by these days. If you have a rag and your fellow in destitution has a wound, wrap it! Rememeber that hard booze is also an antispeptic ... don't hog it all if someone has a festering gash.

Our President needs your cooperation in these hard times. Why should big corporations have to give up hard-earned profits? We know you understand that it would just not be fair.

My husband and I are not enjoying the prosperity that mr. bush is talking about. My husband lost his job 3 years ago and has been under-employed since. I believe our next step is to sell our house and relocate. There is no more money for charitable purposes. Sorry! I do volunteer for my kids' schools though, so can I still be a good American?

40. What a patronizing phony!
Awww, how sweet. Good christian georgie wants us all to be good subservients to do the dirty work for him and all his rich and powerful friends. Somehow, he can kid himself out of his guilt by thinking we'll be out there, caring for and saving the souls of those poor lowly heathens. So convenient for him, because then he can divert federal $$ from social programs to fund tax cuts for the rich, tax breaks for his buddies in the pharmaceutical companies, the same for Dick's Halliburton, and $$ for the defense contractors.
See, if we do what our good christian president wants, he'll be able to sleep a little more at night...
Well, georgie, FUCK YOU TIMES A THOUSAND! I give what I can because it is the right thing to do, not to absolve your guilt!

44. When has any Bush ever volunteered?
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 06:18 PM by Malva Zebrina
He was in his mid twenties when, according to his Harvard professor, he arrogantly claimed that the poor were poor because they were lazy.

When has Laura Bush ever volunteered for a thing to help the needy? When? I know right now she is a stay at home Mom busy raising twins, as she has been for the past thirty years, but what have those twins ever volunteered for.

The elite do not volunteer-it is below them-they set up foundations that their rich friends donate to, to glorify themself. Hospitals are named after them, yet they have never done a damn bit of hands on volunteer work in any hospital.

You see, volunteers are only the little guys and often they are taken advantage of by corporations unwilling to actually pay people to do the job the volunteer does.
