Man Threatens to Blow Up Van Near White House

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Police on Tuesday surrounded a van one block from the White House after the driver threatened to blow it up, but the FBI (news - web sites) linked the incident to a domestic dispute, not terrorism.

"The man apparently is claiming he has 15 gallons of gasoline in his van and he'll blow it up if he doesn't get his child back. Law enforcement is trying to address it," the spokeswoman added.

Bush was not at the White House at the time. He was attending an event aimed at honoring U.S. troops that was part of the inauguration festivities. (Additional reporting by Caren Bohan and Laura MacInnis)
