Newest Washington governor chides Bush in radio speech

(Olympia, Washington-AP) Jan. 22, 2005 -

(snip)

Washington state Democrat Christine Gregoire says the Bush administration talks about federal-state partnership on major programs, but doesn't come through with necessary funding.

She spoke in the Democrats' weekly radio address. She cited homeland security, transportation, health care and education as areas where federal mandates are heaped on states.

As for the war on terror, she says there's "too much talk" coming out of Washington and "too little action".

Gregoire took office last week after winning by just 129 votes. Her Republican rival is asking the courts to overturn the election and order a revote.

2. See This Fellow Liberals?!
You should be very excited. We now have Representation, and know exactly what we need to do to fight these Right Wing freakazoids.

The pressures (mailing, emailing, blogging, marching, calling, petitioning, rallying, protesting, writing, painting, etc is now an entity. In the years under the Bush Regime, some gems of optimism; the ones that are not meer memories for pride, but something to build upon, understand and finally utilize.

The freeps are freaking out, and what a huge bummer the innuaguration was afterall.... awwwwww.

7. And the people said, Amen!
As the democrats began climbing to the tops of the highest mountains and raising their collective voices.

OK, maybe not all of them, but it's still more progress in the right direction. :)

Sure, "War Begins With W." Sure, Kerry actually won and the election was rigged in one form or another in at least a third of the states. Sure, Kenneth Blackwell betrayed his constituents and his race and deserves to spend the rest of his unnatural life in stir. However, even as we continue to try to get the commander-in-thief out of there, we also should pause for a moment of optimism about the handful of significant victories which we scored on 11/2:

Oh, yeah - and raising almost $1,000,000 on very short notice, with a good portion of it coming from grass roots support, for a full hand recount of Washington state belongs at the top of the list.
