Zarqawi Could Be in Iraq's Kirkuk - Police Source(hot on his trail)
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=worldNews&storyID=7609671

KIRKUK, Iraq (Reuters) - Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi may be hiding out in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, local police sources said on Saturday, days after the interim government said it was hot on his trail.

"He came to Kirkuk from Mosul," a source in the Kirkuk police department said, speaking on condition of anonymity. "There's a possibility that he might be captured at any moment."

There was no immediate comment from U.S. or Iraqi officials on the report that Zarqawi had moved to Kirkuk.

Iraqi officials have claimed in the past to be close to capturing the elusive militant, who has been behind many of the deadliest attacks in Iraq over the past year, including the kidnapping and beheading of several foreign hostages.

<snip>

"We are following him," Interior Minister Falah al-Naqib told Pentagon reporters from Baghdad. "I think we missed him twice or three times, but hopefully next time we will be able to capture him."

... lol

1. These stories are just more propeganda
IMHO. If they really were hot on his trail....why announce to the world where they were looking???? Wouldn't that alert al-Zargawi and allow him to flee yet one more time?????

3. The legendary Al-Zarqawi.
I'm surprised they haven't been finding an Arabic "Z" symbol slashed into something at all the attacks he's supposedly responsible for.

5. Even if they catch him. What will it mean? there is someone waiting to
take his place. And after what we did in Iraq, I am sure there are many, many more willing to follow another person in Jihad.

6. That probably means they've finished bombing Mosul
and now they need an new excuse to do the same to Kirkuk.

I guess BushCo wants to go for a Grand Slam. Fallujah, Mosul and Kirkuk destroyed in less than 2 years.

9. Does he even exist?
There is a quote from 1984 about the idea of the fictitious boogie man. This pretty much fits the bill.

12. Well, we'd better not take any chances
Let's randomly bomb suspected sites in Kirkuk -- no, let's just go ahead and fucking FLATTEN Kirkuk completely. Just in case he's there. Maybe. On the off-chance. And if innocents have to die or lose their homes, well, freedom is on the march. 'N stuff.
