Judge Considers Declassifying Sept. 11 Report on the F.B.I.
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/02/13/national/nationalspecial3/13FBI.html?ex=1265950800&en=1a639ed1ec5aef28&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt

WASHINGTON, Feb. 12 - A federal judge is weighing whether to make public a secret Justice Department report that officials say is sharply critical of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for failing to piece together terrorism leads before the Sept. 11 attacks.

In a court filing dated Feb. 1, the Justice Department inspector general's office asked a federal judge in Alexandria, Va., for permission to release a declassified version of the report, which the inspector general completed last July after investigating the F.B.I.'s handling of intelligence related to the attacks in 2001.

But defense lawyers for Zacarias Moussaoui, an admitted member of Al Qaeda who is the only person charged in a United States court in connection with the Sept. 11 attacks, are worried that the public release of the report - which deals in part with Mr. Moussaoui's case - could compromise his ability to get a fair trial and an unbiased jury, officials said.

1. Well, wouldn't that be nice.
But poor Moussaoui, we don't want to compromise his ability to get a fair and unbiased jury trial, which would happen if we found out more about how bad the government screwed up.

2. Isn't rather odd that after NYT publishes new info about the
numerous warnings prior to Sept 11 all of a sudden a judge is thinking of declassifying something that will draw attention away from bush?

3. failing to piece together terrorism leads
Why not find out why some were trained on U.S. military bases... in his bro's own state, Pensacola?? Wouln't that be an interesting expose? Why Why Why were they trained on Amurkan bases.

Isn't it funny that this article no longer exists at it's original site, the Pensacola News Journal???

http://www.freemasonrywatch.org/pensacola_hijackers.html
U.S. Sen. Bob Graham is requesting information on published reports of a possible Pensacola Naval Air Station tie-in to last week's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C.

As many as four of 19 suspected hijackers may have participated during the 1990s in the base's flight training program for foreign military trainees, according to reports in The Washington Post and Newsweek magazine.

10. The suppression of FBI and CIA investigations from on high...
is an important part of the story surrounding 9/11. No way would this be a helpful distraction for Bushco.

There had once been uncertainty over whether the Justice Department had refused a fisa warrant for Moussaoui or whether FBI superiors had refused to even apply for one. As I recall it turned out to be the latter, and the Justice Department pushing for release of this report supports that.

Moussaoui's laptop contained information that could have blown the 9/11 plot wide open, a fisa warrant would have revealed that information, the investigation of him easily met the criteria for a fisa warrant for which applications were rarely refused, yet FBI superiors refused to even apply for one, despite all the red flags and alerts going off around them at that time. This report could be dynamite if it gets into that incomprehensible high level shutdown of this investigation.

I think the timing is interesting, right on the heels of recent revelations. Was it May 2002, when the existence of the Aug 2001 PDB was leaked? "Bush Knew!" headlines... I remember there was much speculation about who leaked, and also remember being incredulous that many people didn't think it was a huge deal. Like many here I came to realise that even if undeniable proof of complicity (by deliberate inaction or otherwise) was revealed, most people's mental blinkers would come down and they'd just refuse to even contemplate it, all at once in their face it would just be too much. I took comfort in speculation that if there were people or factions in positions of power who opposed the regime, and wanted dirty 9/11 secrets out, they would know this and perhaps leaks in mid 2002 were part of a softening up process, a gradual conditioning to ease people into the unthinkable, with more and worse to come. Fanciful probably, but hope is essential. Still, there's no doubt that questions of complicity have since gained a lot of ground in wider opinion, and now we have demands for full release of the FAA report, Clarke's memo, possible release of this report, and hopefully the suppressed CIA report to come... gives me hope that this is entering a whole new level.

Of course, more likely it's just a controlled dump of all the shit suppressed before the election. :(

Judge Considers Declassifying Sept. 11 Report on the F.B.I.

Mr. Moussaoui's lawyers filed a sealed motion last week voicing their concerns to Leonie M. Brinkema, the federal judge in Virginia who is handling Mr. Moussaoui's long-stalled trial........

13. What we really need is the FULL copy that went to the National Archives
THAT would be interesting to obtain. This report needs to come out, but I wonder how much good it will do. People know that Bush dropped the ball, and that senior officials were told to look the other way.

When will this stuff really come together and get some results?

14. hmm, anyone read Intellegnce matters?
seems that the FBI was living with two of the hijackers over in California somewhere. of course he had no idea who these guys were or that they were on a list somewhere. ::roll eyes:: but anyway, the FBI was deeply involved in fucking this all up. and keeping these guys protected.

more than the CIA. Intelligence matters was written by senator Bob Graham and he thinks bush should be removed from office. but all he did was write the book. and connect the dots. he is doing nothing to make it happen.

he doest say there was a conspiracy - he maintains it was stupid mistakes. and that the administration was lacking in its duty. but he does think that bush used the excuse of 9/11 to go into Iraq. and that that was a conspiracy of the worst kind. and he also says that bush let OBL go at tora bora. but where was he when terry needed him during the campaign.

these people all afraid of a bit of anthrax.

15. CIA Report -911 Attack?
It was to be released two months before the election. Still not released.

I believe it was LIHOP. There is a tiny chance that someone will dig out the proof of that and the Silverspoon Sociopath and most of his Junta will go to prison.

16. I can see it now
It'll be just like the Roswell declassified document they release. One page mostly blacked out with the word "The" at the beginning, a few "a's" here and there, one name, and a end of document message at the end.
