WHO says no evidence bird flu danger up for humans
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L14467326.htm

GENEVA, March 14 (Reuters) - The World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Monday it had seen no evidence so far to suggest the Asian bird flu virus was changing into a form that could be easily transmitted from one human to another. snip

"This (a possible mutation) is something we're discussing all the time. But we need evidence before we could say that the virus is changing or whether it isn't," Thompson declared.

"We don't have that evidence now and we are waiting for detail of these latest cases from Vietnam."

Health experts believe there may already have been incidents of human-to-human transmission of what is formally known as Avian Influenza -- including one of a woman in Thailand who cradled her infected and dying daughter in her arms for hours.

But they say possible cases so far appear to have been dead-ends, with no onward transmission to further humans proven.

2. My thoughts exactly, redqueen. . .
I guess their just covering all bases so whichever way this thing goes, they can claim to have foreseen it.

3. It may be changing, but there is no evidence yet
is what they apparently mean.

It's like when you hear a noise at night and go out to see whether it's just the gate banging in the wind or something else. Until you have more evidence than just the noise, you don't know what it is.

4. But in the other article they're characterized as being 'worried'
in this one the concern seems to be minimized.

6. Yes, that shows what you can do with headlines
The facts are essentially the same in both.
