Control desk failed to notice assault on camera: More on Nichol's' case...
ATLANTA — A surveillance camera captured Brian G. Nichols' surprise attack on a Fulton County sheriff's deputy, but no one in the control center noticed the assault and sent help, said a law enforcement official who viewed the security tape.

"It's not just horrible, it was preventable," said Senior Superior Court Judge Philip Etheridge.

No shit. This thing was a cluster fuck from beginning to end.

1. It sounds like mistakes were made all around.
There should be a very complete investigation done and changes made immediately. This was probably very preventable.

2. The first mistake was leaving him alone with one cop
He had brought a shank into the courtroom earlier, yet for some reason he was left alone with only one cop, who he overpowered and took a gun from.

3. A Money-Saving Move
...don't want to have to raise taxes!
And just look how that sort of thinking pays off here, like it does in Iraq.

5. Great analogy
That's putting the dots together.

And it'll get worse if Bush's 2006 budget is approved. He's asking for deep cuts in police funding to states.

4. They need to assign a task force
Task force being the cure-all for those in power when they screw up. I wish I could assign a task force when the bills come at the end of the month.
