and back then, the anthrax letters certainly just dropped off the top 100, didn't they? How very interesting, the US attacks Afghanistan & later Iraq--because of the 9/11 attacks, but the anthrax letters--it just goes down the memory hole.

And like someone posted earlier, I agree it's likely a ruse to stifle dissent on March 19. This admin. is SO intolerant of dissent. Yet the Bushbots are OK with that.

Officials weren't sure if this was an attack. Additional tests and other sensors at the two facilities, one of them at the Pentagon and the other nearby, found no presence of the bacteria, which can be used as a biological weapon. There were no initial reports of illness.

The Pentagon's mail delivery site, which is separate from the main Pentagon building, was evacuated and shut down Monday after sensors triggered an alarm around 10:30 a.m. EST, spokesman Glenn Flood said. It was expected to remain closed until at least Tuesday while the investigation continued.

It was not clear when sensors at the second Defense Department mailroom were triggered Monday, and Pentagon officials only said a nearby satellite mail facility was closed. But firefighters in nearby Bailey's Crossroads, Va., reported that a military mailroom had been shut down after a hazardous material was detected, and no one was allowed to leave that building.

According to the local TV news (I'm in DC). There were positive tests at a facility within the Pentagon, then two other positive tests at the Skyline office building in Baileys Crossroads. (An aside: One of the major tenants at Skyline is military contractor SAIC.) Because the office building where they found the positives is connected to two other buildings, ALL of the employees have been under lockdown. They're only now starting to let the employees leave, but they're being inspected and made to complete paperwork before they go; hence, it's taking a while for the 3,000+ workers to go.

I'll have to email my old roomie -- she works in that complex. She recently moved into a different building though, so I'm not sure if she's affected.

I always thought Eric Rudolph had something to do with those Anthrax attacks but he's locked up tight now. The handwriting on the letters and the letters he sent after the Atlanta bombings were very similar and he was stationed at the Army base where the Anthrax was being produced at one time. I still think there is a connection there.
