Local coverage of the Friday press conference at the Quaker House in Fayetteville, NC, home of Fort Bragg, is contained in today's article from the Fayetteville Observer. Lila Lipscomb ("Fahrenheit 9/11") is quoted. Nick Berg's father was supposed to attend the joint press conference sponsored by Military Families Speak Out, Iraq Veterans Against The War, and the NC Peace and Justice Coalition. The rally and march starts at 10 a.m. The rest of Drew Plummer's story at the link is interesting and affecting.

Drew Plummer joined the Navy as a Terry Sanford High School senior, following in the military footsteps of his father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Four years later, he is home again, a disillusioned 21-year-old. His opposition to the war in Iraq landed him in a military court and eventually cost him a dishonorable discharge. After spending three weeks in a military jail, Plummer is back in Fayetteville, still protesting.
On Friday afternoon, he said it was a relief to be home:
''I went from being part of an organization trapped into working to accomplish the complete opposite of what I believe in and back to a free man working with people who are trying to make this world a better place,'' he said.
Plummer is one of hundreds of people - many with military connections - expected to protest the war today near downtown Fayetteville. They include former soldiers, military wives, mothers of Marines and even active-duty fighters. Some of them will drive all night from Illinois or fly from as far away as Hawaii and California.
