GOP adviser died of overdose (Cocaine and OxyContin)
http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20050322-110506-1261r.htm

Republican media adviser R. Gregory Stevens, who was found dead in the Beverly Hills, Calif., home of actress Carrie Fisher on Feb. 26, died of an overdose of cocaine and the painkiller OxyContin, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

A spokeswoman at the coroner's office read to The Washington Times portions of the report, which was completed Friday.

"Cocaine and OxyContin," the spokeswoman said when asked by phone what was the cause of death. When asked specifically whether there was a drug overdose, she said "yes."

<snip>

Mr. Stevens, 42, was an associate with the powerhouse Washington lobbying firm Barbour Griffith & Rogers and had traveled to Los Angeles to attend the Academy Awards.

one of the largest lobbying groups in D.C., formerly owned by the Gov of MS (divested himself of interests in it when he took office <<cough, cough>>), the former chairman of the RNC.
Seems the media adviser was found dead within weeks of gannongate and his death was not made public until 3 or 4 days after he was found dead.

You know us :tinfoilhat: , everything is a conspiracy! :silly:

I can't recognize so many of these stars that are over the age of 40 anymore. In their quest to look young they become strange waxy looking caricatures with wide eyes and fat lips that don't move. Some of them actually make me feel physically ill when I see them.

16. I remember reading an article about the widespread use of
ambien among the power brokers. Colin Powell apparently remarked that he thought everyone used ambien to sleep.

Maybe they use coke in the day and ambien at night -- would explain a lot.

Here is a March 6th Washington Post article:

R. Gregory Stevens, 42; Colorful GOP Consultant

From Wire Services
Sunday, March 6, 2005; Page C12

Republican media adviser R. Gregory Stevens, 42, died Feb. 26 in a guest room at the Los Angeles home of longtime friend and actress Carrie Fisher...

When did the Gannon story break?

69. The Gannon story broke on two fronts.
I don't remember what the actual date where Gannon asked that asinine question and it was right after that when bloggers started diggin up dirt on this guy. It may have been the first week in February. But John Aravosis broke the m4m website story on February 14.

61. there is a price for selling one's soul
for power and money. Every time. Most people aren't sociopaths, but in order to assuage their guilt and remorse for helping such people, alcohol, drugs and sex are common functions. Why do you think so many house and senate staffers are alcoholics? Before you can stomach the work, you have to drown your ideals.

72. Amen, Northzax.
My husband just buried a dear lady from our parish. African American, she had the courage to come with her longtime church member friend, and be a part of our mostly white church.

The family gathered round, family who had perhaps taken her for granted, after all, she played with all the kids, and raised a stepson, but had no children of her own.

I cannot tell you what it was like--out on this winter-like day, but under such bright sun. Her life shone like a jewel, though there was just the graveside service. Her love fell all around us in the sun. Her love of music caused a niece to sing spontaneously, receiving a deep inner message, I am sure.

She had grieved so much. Her husband had died just a few months before she came to us. She died of the lung cancer his smoking had likely given her.

But she lived, and died, and rose to "life after life" I believe. And she gave so much energy and love to all who knew her. A beautiful, elegant lady, who, suddenly, everyone will miss.

THAT'S the way to live one's life. No drugs needed.

12. Strap on your tin foil hats ...... I'll give you the real story .....
..... Mr. Stevens was gay. He knew to much. He knew about "the Bulldog
AKA Jeff Gannon," Karl Rove, Scott McCellen, and White House back doors.

The hit was ordered by Roger Stone. James Bakker had Saudi money pay for it.
Sean Hannity was sent pictures of the body to keep him in line. The "Hot Dose"
was made by Sen. Frist. Ken Blackwell was the driver. Bernie Kerrick was the
dealer. Creative Response Concepts of Arlington, VA came up with the idea.
CNN was in charge of the media. Jerry Fallwell was the spiritual advisor and
the bag man. * was clueless as usual.
