Sen. Lieberman's Wife Hired As Senior Counselor By PR Company
The wife of U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman has been hired by one of the nation's biggest public relations companies as a senior counselor in its health and pharmaceuticals division.

Hadassah Lieberman, who previously worked in communications and public affairs at two drug manufacturers, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and Hoffmann-La Roche, is now a “strategic counselor on health-care policy and public health initiatives” in the Washington, D.C., office of Hill & Knowlton USA, according to the New York-based company.

In a statement issued by the firm last week, Lieberman cited her “lifelong commitment to helping people gain better health care,” adding that she was excited to work with Hill & Knowlton personnel “to counsel a terrific stable of clients toward that same goal.”

The company, meanwhile, said the senator's wife, who became a national figure when her husband was the Democratic candidate for vice president in the 2000 election, would work with current clients as well as develop “new business opportunities.”

1. hill & Knowlton is the notorious outfit that sent a Kuwaiti woman from the
Al Sabah ruling family of Kuwait as an Iraqi woman claiming Saddam Hussein's soldiers threw a baby from the crib in Congressional testimony. Can Mr. or Mrs Lieberman tell us where they stand on that?

7. And I'm sure
the unctuous moralizer will continue decrying the influence of music and videogames on impressionable minds without pausing to note the irony.

Maybe if Nariyah had rapped her testimony with blaring beats the memory of H&K's fraud wouldn't had slid off his teflon-coated brain.

4. Pfizer, Hoffman-LaRoche and now Hill & Knowlton....
... why am I not surprised?

Is it any wonder why there are many here who are suspicious of the so-called moderates of the party--this is no different than Daschle's wife working as a Washington lobbyist for firms that desired legislation from Congress.

It's no different than what the `pugs have been doing for years--Mitch McConnell and his wife, Elaine Chao, Phil and Wendy Gramm, etc.

There are simply too many Dems who have apparently said, "if you can't lick `em, join `em." *sigh*

9. What about Ruth Harkin?
She lobbied for years while her husband Tom was in the House and the Senate.

I guess he gets a special dispensation because he's not on the Official DU Blacklist.

11. No... I didn't mention that...
... because I wasn't aware of it. In looking at her associations, I wish I had--United Technologies is a horrible company--probably epitomizes everything bad about the American practice of slash-and-burn merger and acquisition practices by greedy and simple-minded management, second only to perhaps Allied Signal.

Cheers.

12. The Moderates don't bother me, PunPirate...
at least they didn't when they still existed.

DINOs are a different story. And JOE is a major DINO. Maybe the majorest.

This latest twist:
"The Lu$ty Lieberman$ vol. 12: 'BigPharma Threeway'
...is just a SLAP in the face of every American who loves Democracy.
Just unbelievable.

Joe L is a goddamn freeper troll in our party,
and it's LONG past time that he and his CORPORATE owners were kicked to the curb!

If he was a DU member, and HONEST about his opinions, he wouldn't make it to 100 posts.

14. I guess my point...
... is that the practice is unethical, no matter who's participating in it. When someone with a too-familiar name walks into a committee hearing or a Senate/House office to talk about the business of a corporation, there's a tendency to defer for the sake of peace in the body (well, hell, don't make waves, everybody's doing it, etc.). The end result is a government beholden only to the interests of corporations, rather than the people.

It's simply a reflection of the degree of corruption to which the country's government has sunk.

8. Pharmaceuticals and big business all the way!
And PR yet, and everyone knows the mega bucks those companies spend. Any doctor or clinic will tell you about the expensive freebies from pharmaceutical companies. They buy dinners ,and cruises, tickets and boxes to sports events. This is probably the best job in the world. Joe is a lying bastard who has sold us out. I hope he gets his butt kicked. I'll bet the Joe defenders here hide about this one. there can't be any defense, this is so obvious!
