Dollar "catastrophe" prompts call to replace George W Bush
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=22247

THE FORMER prime minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, has launched into a swingeing attack on US president George W. Bush and warned that the global economy was heading for a catastrophe with the dollar in danger of imminent collapse.

Mahathir claimed that the only reason the US dollar was keeping its value was because of a widespread fear of global meltdown it it collapsed.

According to a report in today's Taipei Times, the only way to avert such a meltdown in the value of the US dollar was if the Americans replaced George W. Bush with a "more responsible president". Replacing US presidents isn't that simple, we suspect.

The former prime minister suggested one answer to the impending doom was to switch from dollars to a gold standard for international trade. Companies should start demanding that payments be made in Euros, or that US dollar payments should be at the Euro rate.

1. I never put much stock in anything Mahathir says
- his hatred of the West and everything about it is legendary. He's a closet Muslim extremist who falsely imprisoned and tortured his deputy for being too accepting of non-Muslim and Western ideas - a racist-in-reverse if you like.

10. Considering how much love the West has shown to Muslims
and EVERYONE who is non-European,
your statements on Mahathir count for less than nothing.

How are the aboriginals in Australia doing these days
now that they are no longer hunted for sport?
Bet they love YOU a whole lot more than Mahathir loves the West.

Reporter: What do you think of western civilization?
Mahatma Gandhi: I think it would be a good idea.

3. Bring proof to International body that GW didn't win the election
Get International media to publish the fact that GW bushie didn't win the election -- da Mr. "democracy" is a crook, liar, and election thief -- melt down of US -- call for new elections.

Install a democratically elected Prez under supervision of International election watch dog organization.

Likelihood of this happening -- pigs flying, hell freezing over, humans growing a new brain like lizards growing new tails.

<snip>
"But the catastrophe will come one day because even the most powerful country in the world cannot repay loans amounting to US$7 trillion," Mahathir said.

The former premier said he believed central banks worldwide were reducing their US dollar reserves and he suspected that Malaysia was also switching to other currencies.

Telling reporters that he was giving his personal views, he warned that "unless change their president and have a more responsible president who will try to reduce the deficit, they will have serious trouble with the US currency."

Mahathir told the CEOs it was doubtful that the sliding dollar could regain its old strength as the administration of US President George W. Bush did not consider deficits worth reducing.
<snip>

He's right about this administration lack of concerned in reducing our deficit and I'm also worried about our inability to repay our dept.

12. He reminds me a little of Sihanouk in his prime.
Sihanouk, too, had a tendency to paint with broad strokes and loud colors. But he also had a very keen political mind and was often right on target with what he said.

21. even the most powerful country in the world cannot repay ... US$7 trillion
.
.
.

"even the most powerful country in the world cannot repay loans amounting to US$7 trillion"

I agree with that, and more importantly:

I think they have no intention of ever paying that money

OTHER countries have paid off debts by settling for so much on the dollar

companies do it all the time

I know people in business that PURPOSELY over extend their credit, knowing full well that when it gets TOO large - most of their creditors will settle for a portion rather than make the person bankrupt and then they get next to nothing . .

And Junior just got Wolfie into the World Bank

hmmmm :freak:

Ridiculous thought here though

How much money could the US save if they parked that friggen War Machine for a decade or two??

Might even make a friend or two!

I know

dream on . . .

(sigh)

8. Mmmmm gold
I have 2 CDs that don't produce enough like they did when Clinton was in office. The 2 checks under Clinton made me at least $300 but now barely make $60. I'd love to have them in Euro or gold just so I could make money and hopefully retire on my terms. Sadly, that will never happen. I see retirement only for Republician Christians.

22. When was the last time a foreign leader said a US Pres. should be replaced
Who was the last foreign leader to suggest this? My Gawd, we really have a bigger problem that most Americans know. Think of it. A leader of a major Asian nation, one that has a capitalist orientation, just said Bush had to go.

Castro just suggested it a few weeks ago. I remember Hussein making several comments along those lines, and they're standard fare in the middle east.

24. Ok, but were they all for THIS U.S. president?
Obviously Castro's was. How many have said other presidents should be removed? I don't ever remember it before this particular president, but then again, I was never this interested in politics before.

Just doesn't happen. Which other presidentd did Castro tell us to remove. Besides, Malaysia has a GNP several times the size of Cuba and Iraq combined. It's a real country
