3. Sumatra shaken by new earthquake
Edited on Sun Apr-10-05 08:35 AM by allemand
A strong earthquake has struck near the Indonesian island of Sumatra, say seismologists.

The epicentre of the quake, which had an estimated magnitude of 6.7, was about 120km (75 miles) south-west of the city of Padang, officials said.

There were no immediate reports of damage, but some people fled the coast. (...)

Scientists have warned that the Indian Ocean faultline could deliver another major earthquake, and tremors have been felt in the area almost continually since the 9.3-magnitude jolt that unleashed the 26 December tsunami.

5. "tremors have been felt in the area almost continually since the 9.3"
And the question remains...are these still aftershocks from the 9.3 of 12/26? Or precursors for the next quake?

was "rockin' and rollin'" for several months after the first quake (October 2004), and today, northern Kyushu Island (Japan), which sustained some major earthquake damage recently, was hit with a 4.8 quake.

7. Hard to know...
Probably depends if we're drilling into the Earth's mantle again any time soon like we just did recently. I'm guessing it was probably done over there in the ocean nearby these folks.

9. I can see it now...
A big crack in the ocean floor is going to form and the entire Indian ocean is going to drain into it and then we won't have to worry about rising sea levels anymore. ;)

18. They certainly seem to have been getting stronger here in Japan
Edited on Sun Apr-10-05 08:26 PM by Art_from_Ark
A couple of months ago, for example, my area slightly north of central Tokyo experienced its strongest recorded earthquake ever. Fukuoka, on the north side of the western island of Kyushu, recently experienced one of its strongest earthquakes ever (M7.0-- the strongest in at least the last 300 years), which resulted in the evacuation of a small island near the city of Fukuoka. Last October, there was a series of 6.0 and above quakes in Niigata Prefecture, near the Sea of Japan coast. A few months before that, there was a 6.0 quake off the coast of Sendai (about 180 miles N of Tokyo), and a few months before that, there was a large quake further to the north, in Hokkaido. So in the last 2-3 years, three of Japan's four main islands have been hit with M6.0+ earthquakes.

20. Well, Bushco figured out how to screw these people for a while...
But in the end, it ain't gonna work. Because a certain number of man-made earthquakes can be triggered, but in the end the whole Conspiracy of Fools cannot stop the dollar from going under, with the stupidity of Bush-Cheney management and the lying complicity of our corporate media being what it is.
