WASHINGTON, Aug. 29 /U.S. Newswire/ -- As frustration over President Bush's failure to have a plan to win the War in Iraq continues to mount, so has the number of Republicans who are now distancing themselves from the President's failures. Over the weekend, Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) echoed the feelings his Democratic colleagues have expressed for weeks when he said that "the level of concern is, I think, gradually rising" about the lack of progress in Iraq. Warner, the Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman, also indicated that he would call Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to Capitol Hill next week when Congress reconvenes, to answer questions about the failure of the President's Iraq policy. (New York Times, 8/29/05)

"President Bush's failures in Iraq are now jeopardizing his support among his own party," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. "From a lack of proper equipment for our troops to going to war without a real plan for success or an exit strategy, the Bush White House has mismanaged this war from the beginning. I'm pleased that Senate Republicans are finally starting to listen to the concerns of the American people and join what Democrats have said all along: the Bush White House must be held accountable for the inept way that they've handled this war."

4. Interesting question
Warner is not a "class 1" Senator, not up for re-election (Allen is).
