1. have they counted the bodies in the attics yet?
or the ones impaled on fences. Or the ones who died after being evacuated on the tarmac of the airport. Or the ones who died while waiting to be evacuated out of NO? These numbers will be fixed, fixed and fixed again.

6. will anyone ever count the bodies that have already been
"cremated" in the fires that received relatively little attention?

I doubt it. But I bet there were STACKS.

8. Halliburton Hasn't Pryed Out The Deads Gold Fillings Yet-READ
Halliburton Gets Contract To Pry Gold Fillings From New Orleans Corpses' Teeth
September 14, 2005 | Issue 41•37

HOUSTON—On Tuesday, Halliburton received a $110 million no-bid government contract to pry the gold fillings from the mouths of deceased disaster victims in the New Orleans-Gulf Coast area. "We are proud to serve the government in this time of crisis by recovering valuable resources from the wreckage of this deadly storm," said David J. Lesar, Halliburton's president. "The gold we recover from the human rubble of Katrina can be used to make fighter-jet electronics, supercomputer chips, inflation-proof A-grade investments, and luxury yachting watches."

15. These days, it doesn't get much more real than The Onion.
With the possible exception of old Monty Python episodes, which begin to look like brilliant forecasts of future events.

10. Company known for hiding, dumping corpses gets Katrina body contract
FEMA, La. outsource Katrina body count to firm implicated in body-dumping
scandals

Miriam Raftery

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has hired Kenyon International to set up
a mobile morgue for handling bodies in Baton Rouge, Louisiana following
Hurricane Katrina, RAW STORY has learned.

Kenyon is a subsidiary of Service Corporation International (SCI), a
scandal-ridden Texas-based company operated by a friend of the Bush family.
Recently, SCI subsidiaries have been implicated in illegally discarding and
desecrating corpses.

Louisiana governor Katherine Blanco subsequently inked a contract with the firm
after talks between FEMA and the firm broke down.

In other words, FEMA and then Blanco outsourced the body count from Hurricane
Katrina -- which many believe the worst natural disaster in U.S. history -- to
a firm whose parent company is known for its "experience" at hiding and dumping
bodies.

11. Katrina's Death Toll Climbs Past 1,000
NEW ORLEANS - Searchers smashed through doors in New Orleans on Wednesday, bringing their hunt for the dead to homes that had been locked and to blocks hardest hit by Katrina's flooding. Behind those doors, officials said they expected a sharply escalating body count even as the overall death toll passed 1,000.

"There still could be quite a few, especially in the deepest flooded areas," said U.S. Coast Guard Capt. Jeffrey Pettitt, who is overseeing the retrieval of bodies. "Some of the houses, they haven't been in yet." Officials said searchers are beginning to find more children.

Reporters and photographers roaming the city have recorded numerous bodies in recent days around the city. One that had been marked remained in a house and visible from the street for a week before a reporter notified authorities. It was removed that day.

Nagin last week acknowledged there had been problems with the body removal, at least in the early stages, partly because Kenyon workers were having trouble with the conditions.

12. Many houses have X on door and "NE"=not entered
conditions are atrocious. It is hell there.

On another note, someday maybe the true news of Fallujah will get out too.

13. Also, Coast Guard is frustrated with Kenyon
from the article:

Pettitt, the Coast Guard official in charge of retrieval, acknowledged frustration with the process and with trying to coordinate with Kenyon International Emergency Services, the private company that has contracted with the state to remove the bodies.

How about just looking in backyards? Draped over fences. Wrapped around car tires. Stuck in bushes.
