Iraq's Qaeda claims Amman blasts
Iraq's al Qaeda said on Thursday it had carried out the triple bomb attacks on Amman hotels, according to an Internet statement.

"A group of our best lions launched a new attack on some dens... After casing the targets, some hotels were chosen which the Jordanian despot turned into a backyard for the enemies of the faith, the Jews and crusaders," the statement said.

The statement, which could not be immediately verified, was signed by al Qaeda's spokesman in Iraq and posted on an Islamist site normally used by the group.

The statement said Iraq's al Qaeda, led by Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, would later give more details on the attacks, but did not say if they were carried out by suicide bombers.

2. It is not "Z-man" per se...
...it is "his" group that is claiming responsibility. The only thing I find odd, despite it being from a site that they do use, is that AQ is usually MUCH quicker at accepting responsibility.

3. Not when it comes to out of Iraq attacks
It took them 3-4 days to claim the missle attacks on US ships in Jordan.

5. Not what I remember....
...Israeli news and Arabic news sources reported that AQ took credit for the attacks within a day. There was much dispute about it, both Arab and non-Arab, because of the delivery method of the "responsibility." I believe, and I could be remembering incorrectly, that Arab media was saying the 'acceptance' was not the MO of AQ; therefore, they felt it was a "splinter" group. I'd have to look that info up to verify.

18. Two different groups
A BS al-Qaeda set up group declared they did it first, but after they picked up an Iraqi terrorist in Jordan connected to the bombing al-Qaeda in Iraq claimed the attack.

6. What?!
What does the tooth fairy have to do with this? There is nothing saying al-Zarqawi, personally, accepted responsibility, but a group he may have established did.

So, if the group who is claiming responsibility didn't do it, who did?

7. how would I know who or what to believe these days-the media cheerleaders
always blaming this one or that one---When the Tube got bombed Blair publicly said it was Czar Kowee five minutes after it happened--how the hell would he have known who'd done it that quickly?

I could email or post on a website and say I'm the Religious Right and claim credit--the media doesn't check it out first? --- just publishes it as if it's fact ?

8. Then there is the problem.
If you cannot determine who, then why can you so readily dismiss who it isn't? It is still early. First reports are often wrong, but not always.

12. Why is Al Queda?
All of a sudden claiming every terra attack that happens in or out of Iraq now. They didn't even brag up 9/11 why wave your hand for every car bomb in Iraq. Obviously the hotels in Jordan are big but of course once again we knew almost instantly it was Big Z and the boys in Iraq who aren't busy enough blowing us up so they have to go to jordan to start some shit. I don't buy it.

15. "Al Qaeda in Iraq" is like a local franchise.
"Al Qaeda" per se is the brand.

It's an easy explanation I keep using because it's largely accurate.

before then the only time they claimed an attack was on video.

20. Zarqawi group claims Jordan attacks
AMMAN (Reuters) - The al Qaeda group led by America's deadliest foe in Iraq claimed responsibility on Thursday for three suicide bombings that ripped through luxury hotels in Jordan's capital and killed 56 people.

In Wednesday night's near-simultaneous attacks, two suicide bombers turned crowded wedding parties into scenes of blood and panic at the Grand Hyatt and the nearby Radisson SAS in central Amman. A third attacker targeted a Days Inn hotel.

"The operation was executed by three suicide bombers who were wearing explosive belts. Two entered the hotels, the other blew himself up outside the hotel in a car," Deputy Prime Minister Marwan al-Muasher told reporters.

Al Qaeda in Iraq, led by Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, said in a statement on an Islamist Web site that "a group of our best lions" had carried out the attacks against the hotels because they were used by U.S. and Israeli spies.

"Some hotels were chosen which the Jordanian despot had turned into a backyard for the enemies of the faith, the Jews and crusaders," said the statement, referring to Jordan's King Abdullah. Its authenticity could not be immediately verified.
