Chinese sound a pre-Bush warning

CHINA'S police have warned that Islamic extremists may be planning attacks against luxury hotels in the country before a planned visit by US President George Bush.

The warning, apparently issued directly to many hotels but not to embassies here, has met some scepticism and suspicion that intelligence is being played up for political reasons.

The US embassy in Beijing put out a warning to its citizens on Wednesday night urging caution when they were visiting luxury hotels in China.

"The embassy has learnt that Chinese police advised hotels that Islamic extremist elements could be planning to attack four-and five-star hotels in China some time over the course of the next week," the embassy message said.

2. here is a contradiction
BEIJING (AFP) - Chinese authorities have called a US embassy report warning claiming Islamic extremists could be planning attacks on luxury hotels in China next week a "sham" fabricated by a foreigner.

"The so-called attacks on four and five star hotels in China was a sham recently fabricated by some foreign citizen," the Public Security Ministry said in a one-line faxed statement.

The US embassy in Beijing posted a statement on its website on Wednesday saying Chinese police issued a warning that Islamic extremists could be planning to attack four and five star hotels in China over the next week.

"The Embassy has learned that Chinese police advised hotels that Islamic extremist elements could be planning to attack four and five star hotels in China sometime over the course of the next week," the statement said.

3. It's an attempt to capitalize on the Jordan fear factor.
When a subway in the UK gets hit, there is a report that our subways will get hit, when a hotel gets hit there is a report that Chinese hotels will be hit.

It's the equivalent of an orange alert. Phoney and self serving for the bush whitehouse.

4. I wonder how long George has been planning his little trip.
He doesn't stay in the White House much, does he? He must hate being in Washington. Why does George hate our nation's capital? ;)

5. I guess for the same reasons he hates our nation:
He hates that poor and middle-class folks are "free". He thinks we should all be slaves.
