Specter urges Alito to avoid possible controversy
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051110/pl_nm/usa_court_alito_dc

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter urged Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito on Thursday to avoid a potential controversy by promptly explaining why he ruled in two cases involving firms that helped managed Alito's investments.

In a letter, Specter said his committee had consulted two judicial experts and he believed there was "no impropriety on your part." Alito has served on a federal appeals court for 15 years.

But Specter, a Pennsylvania Republican, added, "I believe it is important and timely for you to make a full public response on the propriety of your ruling on cases involving Vanguard and Smith Barney, Inc., at times when you had money invested in Vanguard Mutual Funds and Smith Barney, Inc., was your brokerage firm."

Alito, asked during another day of meetings with individual senators if he had any response to the Specter letter, told reporters, "Not at this time."

3. Go duck hunting w/ Scalia& Cheney; and Scotland golfing
w/ Abramoff and DeLay, and you'll fit right in. Might also be a good idea to take some insider info trading profits from your "blind"* trust, sorta like you did w/ that decision you made on the stock held by your mutual fund.

You'll fit right in with the culture so rich in corruption.

*Why is that blind eye always winking?

by greed.

6. Reinquist was appointed even though
he lied about strong-arming Minorities in Arizona so they were afraid to vote.

5. Like Roe vs. Wade isn't really the
problem. Filling the Court with Corporatists is the REAL PROBLEM.
The RW doesn't want Roe vs. Wade to go down, they would loose a serious publicity tool. Also Roe vs, Wade was about PRIVACY, however, this basis might get Roe vs. Wade into trouble given the so-called Patriot Act, etc.

7. Bye bye Alito...we hardly knew ye'
Read between the lines...there is no explanation. Specter forgot more about fucking people over than most of us will ever know. He does it well and this is a great example. Nice way to surface the issue..."look, I'm just trying to help you; would you just explain why you were standing over the dead body with a knife in your hands and the victims blood all over you; just do that and we'll move on." Oh, yeah, real "helpful."

THERE IS NO EXPLANATION. YOU CAN'T DO THIS SHIT. THANKS ARLEN.
