Iran in turmoil as president's purge deepens
Iran is facing political paralysis as its newly elected president purges government institutions, bringing accusations that he is undertaking a coup d'état.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's clearout of his opponents began last month but is more sweeping than previously understood and has reached almost every branch of government, the Guardian has learned. Dozens of deputy ministers have been sacked this month in several government departments, as well the heads of the state insurance and privatisation organisations. Last week, seven state bank presidents were dismissed in what an Iranian source described as "a coup d'état".

An informed Iranian source with first-hand knowledge of all the main political and clerical figures in the country said: "Ahmadinejad is defying everybody. He does whatever he wants and considers it to be right. This is not how things are done in Iran."

The upheaval at the highest government levels in Tehran follows the dismissal of four senior ambassadors and has raised questions about Iran's ability to conclude negotiations on its nuclear programme which are due to come to a head at a UN meeting in Vienna next week.

15. Sounds a HELLUVA lot like the last 5 1/2 years in our own gov't.
Long-timers being fired, forced to resign, or flat-out quitting so the Propaganda and his cabal can install a bunch of yes-men.

11. The article just says he has fired a bunch of people
Maybe not smart politics, and perhaps destructive of the bureaucracy, but not illegal. I don't know how it differs from what happens when administrations change in America. Remember the phrase "I serve at the pleasure of my president"?

17. Preparing for
the war , subversion and divisions and betrayal that MUST be the hallmark in future American interference. Maybe they shouldn't have waited so long but Bush is weak and still threatening them.

20. Zactly - firing previous employees is not exactly a new concept
.
.
.

and whether business or politics - who's gonna keep employees that don't agree with the new "company's" polices? - as long as those policies are legal

aw shit - GW's policies don't pass the sniff test up here - Iraq was such a global boo boo on the USA's part that they haven't even woke up to it yet - but the rest of the world has - - - USA's still brainwashing their citizens to grab more taxes to continue their genocides - - and the sheeples are paying . .

AND

All those trade/security agreements around the world that leave out the USA - that ain't no accident

think about it . . . .

18. Sounds like Bush. Isn't it weird countries around the globe are suffering
so many of the same problems? Mainly fighting against "conservatism" and fundamentalism? Who's really running things on this planet?

21. "Who's really running things on this planet?" - - Really want to know?
.
.
.

USA is just a scapegoat for the agressors - a "base" if you want to look at it that way for global domination, envisioned in the 1700's -

Google words like "Illumitati" "Freemasons" - Masons - "global government" -

USA has the most powerful weapons, but they are not sure how all they work yet - Iraq was more target practice and a proving/testing ground for alot of their euquipment - the Hummers failed miserably, - didn't matter - a few hundred American lives and billions of taxpayers dollars is of little concern to the Warmongers in the US Admnistration - Oh, did I leave out "civilian" casualties?

Well, shit, we all know that there is no such thing as American illegal detention, invasions, murders, genocide or the like - - that's "collateral damage" and

- Them "illegal combatants", ?

- they ain't human doncha know??

If it wasn't for world opinion, and decentralized world power now, I betcha Junior and clan would be quite happy to renew the slave trade

But he has sorta already done that in the USS of A

- they are called "voters"

(sigh)
