Hadley Hints He Wasn't Woodward's Source
Reuters 11/18

WASHINGTON - White House National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley hinted on Friday he was not Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward's source about the CIA operative Valerie Plame.

Hadley, briefing reporters in Pusan, South Korea, where President Bush was attending an Asia-Pacific summit, would not directly deny being Woodward's source. Instead he said he had seen press reports that Woodward had talked to three administration sources.

"I've also seen press reports from White House officials saying that I am not one of his sources," he said, declining to comment further because the case is under investigation.

"It is what it is," Hadley said when a reporter pressed him on the subject.

Pretty much the same response we'd get if he blabbed or not. Hardly can be expected that he'd admit to anything.

Funny old thing about Woodward. Whether he wanted to or not, he just might have taken down his 2nd corrupt GOP administration.

So if it turns out that Woodward blabbed all he knew to Fitz now, or at some later date, would this make him Loud Throat?

2. Strange non denial-denial
"I've also seen press reports from White House officials saying that I am not one of his sources"

What he needs to check press reports to know if he talked to Woodward?

Did I wake up this morning? Let me check with Scotty.

13. No, she was National Security Advisor--NSA.
Hadley was her executive officer, or its equivalent, and then took her place when she became Secretary of State. The postion of National Security Advisor is a common term for the clunky title Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs.

The two most important jobs a National Security Advisor has are sitting on the National Security Council (NSC), and managing the White House Situation Room in a time of crisis. (The response to the hijackings of September 11 therefore squarely fell on the shoulders of Ms. Rice and in any other Administration she would have been fired for screwing up that response.)

This is not to be confused with the National Security Agency, the eavesdropping intelligence wing of the Department of Defense, which read and recorded this very post before you even saw it.

6. Just in case he's called on to fall upon his sword? Who the heck knows
what these liars are plotting these days. Reminds me of the old "To Tell the Truth" TV show. Will the real leaker please stand up? :eyes:

This is nothing more than a game to them, keep Murikans guessing, keep the truth from seeing the light of day for as long as possible. As long as Bush is protected to dole out pardons, they win.

15. He's walking on eggshells right now.
As far as I know, Hadley isn't under any sort of formal investigation for the real crime behind Plamegate. Hadley was apparently in a position of authority over Michael Ledeen, who met with Italian intelligence (and the Pigpen of Republican scandals, Manucher Ghorbanifar) in Rome on several occasions. We know this because when the CIA wanted Ledeen to lay off, Bill Tenet told Hadley to tell Ledeen. Supposedly, Hadley did, but the meetings continued until one day, the Italians showed up in DC, in Hadley's office.

Hadley's already taken responsibility for letting that faulty intelligence get into the State of the Union Address.

So you can see where the problem is. Hadley knew all about that faulty intelligence way before hand--he was warned about it. Hadley allowed that faulty intelligence to be pursued nevertheless. It would appear that Hadley was the guy who demanded documentary evidence--the forged documents--and it would appear that Hadley conspired with Pollari to have those documents created and delivered by Rocco Martino.

That's a whole lot of responsibility to be holding onto. Particularly since the President should have asked him about all this when he appointed Hadley to the position of National Security Advisor--well after all this bullshit went down.

So you can bet that when Bob Woodward called Mr. Hadley up and reminded him that he'd also named Valerie Wilson--before Scooter did--he's gonna do things by the book. He doesn't dare fuck with Fitzgerald like Rove and Libby are.

This might also explain why Woodward doesn't see this as a particularly big deal. So Hadley named Plame. So what? He's gonna be the last body the President throws in front of himself when the Impeachment Train comes rolling through the White House! That's the big deal!
