US probing if Zarqawi among Iraq dead

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. authorities are looking into whether al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a gunfight in Mosul, a U.S. official said on Sunday, but a White House spokesman said that was "highly unlikely."

"Efforts are under way to determine whether Zarqawi was among those killed," the U.S. official, in Washington said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

...

White House spokesman Trent Duffy, traveling with President George W. Bush in Asia, said the report was "highly unlikely and not credible."

1. Isn't this the dude who's "died" twice already,
and "lost a limb" or two -- only to miraculously reappear on an Al-Jazeera tape in the not so near future ?

The Bush Administration's 'intelligence' is really making us the laughing stock of the entire world.

2. Emmanuel Goldstein escapes again!
If there weren't an al-Zarqawi, Bush would create one. Bush needs an Emmanuel Goldstein just as Christianity needs a Devil!

8. How many Americans even know
who Zarqawi or Bin Laden really are other then some guy they heard about awhile back?

Thus, I doubt that either of their captures would help Bush in the polls.

3. If he is dead...
...then I'd lay odds he was sold out by his own guys who didn't like the bad publicity from the Jordan bombings.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The U.S. military is conducting tests to determine whether terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was among those killed in a weekend raid in northern Iraq, but a White House official called that prospect "highly unlikely."
