HILL TO VP: GO TO IRAQ

By IAN BISHOP Post Correspondent
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
December 17, 2005 -- WASHINGTON — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton offered Vice President Dick Cheney a little unsolicited advice yesterday: go take a firsthand look at what's going on in Iraq. Clinton's surprising suggestion came moments before a top-level war briefing at the White House, a source involved with the meeting told The Post.

Clinton, who has been to Iraq twice and has been sharply critical of the administration's handling of the war, told Cheney it would be a positive experience to see the troops and terrain for himself, the source added.

Cheney, who has not been there since before the war, looked at Clinton but didn't respond to her remark, the source said.

Her spokesman, Philippe Reines, later declined to comment on any "private conversation."

Hours later, Cheney announced a trip next week to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Oman, Egypt and Saudi Arabia — opening the door for a stealth visit to Iraq.

18. Yep, the bitch still supports the war!
Hillary is among those that criticize Bush for fucking up the war, not for starting it in the first place. This is like criticizing Hitler for starting the invasion of the Soviet Union too late in the year causing the troops to become mired in the harsh Russian winter.

The moral difference between HRC and Cheney is nil: two imperialists, arguing the finer points of criminal invasion and mass murder.

3. Cheney sought no less than five deferments to
stay the hell out of Vietnam. What makes Hillary think he's any less averse to experiencing the war zone that is Iraq? Clearly, Cheney is not a guy who'll ever put his ass on the line.

...Maybe I've forgotten, but someone needs to tell me when she's ever been "sharply critical of the administration's handling of the war", or even critical of how we got there in the first place.

8. What does that have to do with what she said. You don't need to be
critical to tell cheney go get off his fat cottage cheese ass and go over and get some real information about what the fuck he's talking about.

It amazes me how some people don't think before speaking.

12. continue to be amazed, then, because it was in the link, stipulating
that she was critical of the war. someone asked about that characterization and I seconded it.

are we no longer allowed to comment on the contents of the linked article without being attacked now?

Hey, tell you what, follow me around and after every post decide if you think I've thought beforehand. Better yet, come to my house. I'm in my pajamas right now and havent' showered. what does that say about me as a person... am I thinking? hmm...my fingers are moving across the keyboard and words are being typed that reflect what my brain is telling me I'm thinking. But am I really thinking? what is thought?
I think, therefore I am posting.

She's been asking for plans, she's been saying that the administration didn't provide them with adequate intel. She admitted making her vote on the bush administrations crappy intel.

That isn't being critical?

...as far as not thinking before I post, that's far from the case as far as I'm concerned. Personally, I'd like to know what SHE was thinking before she made that comment to Cheney.

One more point, up until she made the comment about voting to illegally invade Iraq based on the NeoCon Junta's falsified intelligence, her remarks have been overwhelmingly supportive of the failed Iraq venture.

34. it would be a positive experience for HIM
He's probably never seen a dead body, much less a mutilated body, blown to bits. He is a coward and the violence he sees is in the sex he performs and the torture he initiates, but probably doesn't perfrom in person. Yes, it would be positive for him to see the gore and the death and the desolation, even if he were to be shielded from it all. But he will never go because he is a coward.

WHY IS IT THAT PEOPLE SHOOT THEIR MOUTHS OFF INSTEAD OF READING AND UNDERSTANDING?

13. pot meet kettle.
the point is, a trip like that takes more than four hours to arrange, even if your veep.
The timing of her remarks and his trip are amazingly convenient.
Cheney gets to look like he's responding to "democratic" criticism, he makes the trip, decides everything is wonderful, comes back and gives glowing report, now made seemingly more legitimate because it was precipitated by criticism to "look for yourself".
Why would you want the architect of the quagmire to go and decide if it was going well? What's he going to report.

This is rovian bs.

WHY IS IT THAT PEOPLE SHOOT THEIR MOUTHS OFF INSTEAD OF READING AND UNDERSTANDING?

to quote you.

...what is it that you can't seem to understand about discussing topics in a civil fashion?

A few more questions for you...Bill Clinton and the Busch clan have been very chummy lately...why do you think that is? Why has the DLC, of which the Clintons are members, chosen to support, until very recently, so many of the policies of the NeoCon Junta on the illegal invasion of Iraq?

Now, back to my original question...why did she say to Cheney that going to Iraq "would be a positive experience"? IMHO, and WADR, your answer(s) aren't sufficient.

Until she recently stated that she had been duped into voting for the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq, she has rarely said anything critical of the conflict. In fact, she has been overwhelmingly supportive of the venture. Why?

37. Welp I apologize.....Hasn't your mother ever said to you living in a
persons shoes who wasn't as fortunate as you would be a positive experience?

It would be a positive exprience for all of us for cheny to go to Iraq to know what the fuck he's talking about. How can cheney say to us that things are going great there when he hasn't been? How can he say that the Media isn't reporting the good stuff when he hasn't been.

It would be a positve experience for him to go to where he sent out troops over to die. Maybe he'll get some emotions and remorse over his mis direction of the war.

I can't believe you've never been told that it would be a positve experience for you to go through a tough time so you'd understand how the other 1/2 lives or how to have compassion for others. Maybe you're to young to have heard that expression but my mom always though that having to live in others shoes who aren't so fortunate would make me a better person..i.e a positive experience.

Don't you get that? Can't you understand that is whta she is saying. CHENEY GET OFF YOUR FAT WHITE ASS AND GO OVER AND SEE WHAT YOU'VE FUCKIN DONE.

They never get to see Iraq or Iraqis! They travel all the way out there just to get carefully orchestrated tours of safe areas, and to see the Powerpoint presentations that the Generals have put together.

Rather than having politicians travel to Iraq, we should be bringing the troops home, beginning with all of our National Guardsmen.

there's a war on, I think this is perfectly appropriate. Or maybe Powell was the one who said that to her, and Cheney said it to someone else. Who cares. They were being disrespectful of people higher than themselves on the evolutionary scale, at least intellectually and morally speaking.
