Ohio Republican Reasserts Innocence (Ney)
What is the statute of limitation on this kind of corruption? I hate it that he weasels on this.

WASHINGTON — The Ohio congressman caught up in a lobbying scandal reasserted his innocence as a legal deadline passed.

The statute of limitations expired Thursday for federal prosecutors in Miami to bring charges against Rep. Bob Ney, R-Ohio, involving his dealings with lobbyist Jack Abramoff and a Fort Lauderdale casino cruise line.

But the Justice Department is continuing a broader investigation and has indicated that any charges would be filed in Washington.

"From day one, Congressman Ney has been clear and consistent regarding two important points," his spokesman, Brian Walsh, said in a statement. "First, he has never done anything illegal, improper or unethical. Two, he would cooperate in any way possible with the Department of Justice's investigation into the illegal activities of Jack Abramoff.

2. Those Sun Cruz items he entered into the Congressional record
just appeared - he didn't really put the statements for a business that has nothing to do with this constituents nor his district just after receiving donations... Oh, Mr. Ney - how is it that you have something to offer the investigators per Abramoff given that you have allegedly never done anything illegal, improper or unethical?

3. He says he was duped
Abramoff's pal says they bribed him. The twit has hired a whole law firm to get him out of this. Bye, bye, Bobbie. Glad to see you go.

7. Very clever! And somehow me thinks Ney & Noe...& Abramoff
Edited on Mon May-01-06 10:16 AM by zann725
all lead back in crime to Blackwell (who I've predicted for some time will "squeal" sooner than we think about the Truth of the '04 Election).

As Noe and Ney & Abramoff get fitted for 'orange'...Blackwell is destined too...or at leat a major 'plea bargain' perhaps?

5. Duke Cunningham proclaimed his innocence as well. About a month
before he pleaded guilty he was giving a statement to the press.
